Your Destination for Medical Eye Care

Vector Eye Centre offers effective surgical and medical eye care to our patients. We are proud to use innovative technology and techniques that help enhance the precision and depth of our diagnosis, treatments, and procedures. Comfort and quality of care are always our top priority, and our technology helps us achieve that goal.

Innovative Eye Exam Equipment

The ZEISS CIRRUS 6000 is a performance ocular coherence tomography (OCT) that takes highly detailed images of the patient’s retina. The high-definition and wide field of view allow our team to take a deeper look into your eye health and detect signs of eye diseases, such as glaucoma.

The ZEISS Clarus 700 is an innovative fundus camera that captures ultra-wide, high-resolution images of the retina. This device produces images in true colour, meaning they can be separated into red, green, and blue images that enhance contrast and details in different layers of the retina. With this in-depth visual, your doctor can accurately evaluate your eye health and detect signs of eye disease.

The ZEISS Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer 3 helps detect and diagnose glaucoma by mapping the peripheral vision of our patients. Testing one eye at a time, you’ll stare at a central point while light flashes in various points of your visual field. Every time you see a flash, you will press a button.

The ZEISS IOLMaster 700 provides visual information about the central corneal shape. This detailed information helps your doctor determine the right intraocular lens (IOL) for your eyes and vision prior to surgery.

The ZEISS SL 220 slit lamp allows your ophthalmologist to take a closer look at the parts of your eye, including the:

  • Sclera—the white part of your eye
  • Cornea—the clear, dome-shaped front part of the eye
  • Lens—the clear part of your eye behind the pupil that focuses light onto the retina
  • Retina—the layer of nerve cells in the back of the eye
  • Optic Nerve—the nerve in the back of your eye that sends signals to your brain

With the precision of the ZEISS SL 220, your doctor can detect any irregularities that may indicate potential eye disease. This technology also includes a high-resolution imaging camera which is helpful for diagnostic review, patient education, and accurately monitoring your eye health.

The Haag-Streit Lenstar LS900 uses a highly accurate laser to measure each section of your eye. This innovative device can also measure the thickness of your eye’s lens, which helps determine the most effective intraocular lens (IOL) needed for lens replacement surgery.

The Nidek Ark-1 autorefractor determines a patient’s prescription by looking at how light bends as it enters the eye. This computer-controlled device allows for precise measurements of patients with cataracts, corneal opacities, intraocular lenses (IOLs), or post-surgery procedures such as LASIK.

Vector Eye Centre is proud to use the innovative HEINE LAMBDA 100 retinometer, the first compact device to assess the preoperative retinal acuity (how much vision you have left in your retina) of patients with cataracts or other corneal opacities. This measurement is important to determine how much vision you will have after a cataract is removed through surgery.

The iCare IC 100 is a tonometer used to measure a patient’s intraocular pressure (IOP). Measuring IOP is an important part of glaucoma screening. Glaucoma is typically caused by a buildup of fluid in the eye, resulting in a higher than normal IOP. Early detection allows for early intervention and customized treatment.

The iCare IC 100 is efficient and does not require anesthetic eye drops before testing.

iTrace is an efficient and effective 5-in-1 device that combines a wavefront aberrometer, corneal topographer, autorefractor, keratometer, and pupillometer. The iTrace helps your doctor understand the irregularities that are causing your eyes to be unable to focus light onto the retina properly. Once we’ve determined what’s causing poor vision, we can create an individualized treatment plan based on your visual needs.

This specialized microscope captures detailed images of a patient’s corneal endothelium. CellChek is used to assess overall corneal health, determine if a patient is suitable for refractive surgery, and recommend premium intraocular lenses (IOLs) for cataract surgery.

The OCULUS Pentacam is the gold standard in anterior eye segment tomography, used to detect and diagnose ocular surface conditions. The readings provided by this innovative technology help with planning cataract surgery and refractive surgery such as LASIK, PRK, ICL, and refractive lens exchange. OCULUS Pentacam is crucial for diagnosing corneal diseases like keratoconus and determining if we need to perform corneal cross linking.

Dry Eye Treatment Technology

BlephEx is an in-office treatment that helps clean dirt, debris, and bacteria from your eyelids and eyelashes. Your doctor will use the handheld device that gently and safely spins a micro-sponge attachment to clean the area and promote better eyelid hygiene.

Clean and healthy eyelids are an important part of normal tear production, minimizing your risk of developing uncomfortable dry eye symptoms.

The EndyMed Pure 2.0 uses radiofrequency to help alleviate dry eye symptoms caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. Gentle heat is applied to the eyelids to melt the thick oil, known as meibum, clogging the meibomian glands. Once the oil is liquified and expressed, the glands can return to proper function.

LidPro is a handheld device used to help treat blepharitis. This device uses a silicone textured disc with fast spinning action to gently exfoliate the eyelid area. LidPro is a quick and painless procedure helping to restore your comfort.

LipiFlow is an effective treatment for dry eyes caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. The device is placed on the patient’s eyes and uses vector thermal pulse technology to heat, melt, and express the oil clogging the meibomian glands. Once unclogged, healthy oil can return to the tear film to help ensure the patient’s tears aren’t evaporating too quickly.

LipiView II captures detailed images of the meibomian glands and measures lipid layer thickness (LLT). This information allows your doctor to accurately assess, diagnose, and treat your dry eye disease. The LipiView II also analyzes blink dynamics to determine the fluctuations in LLT between each blink.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is used to treat irritating symptoms of dry eye disease caused by meibomian gland dysfunction. Using the handheld piece on the Lumenis M22 IPL system, light therapy is applied just below the eyes to help decrease inflammation and restore meibomian gland function.

The MiBo Thermoflo administers continuous and controlled thermoelectric heat to the eyelid region to help liquify thick oil clogging the meibomian glands. Improving oil secretion helps ensure tears aren’t evaporating too quickly, therefore keeping the eye adequately moisturized. This treatment is painless and requires no downtime.

Tear osmolarity is a beneficial measurement to help diagnose dry eye disease. Determining what is causing your dry eyes is essential when developing a customized and effective treatment plan.

Your doctor will place an osmolarity test card along the edge of your eyelid to collect tear fluid. Once collected, our innovative TearLab Osmolarity Systems, TearLab and I-PEN  will calculate the numerical value that represents if your tear osmolarity is normal or abnormal.

Medical Procedure Technology

The Avedro KXL System uses corneal cross-linking to help treat keratoconus, an eye condition where the cornea begins to gradually thin and bulge into a cone shape. Using ultraviolet light, this innovative machine makes the tissues in your cornea stronger by adding bonds between collagen fibres in your eye.

The ZEISS OPMI pico surgical microscope offers increased magnification and precision to help your doctor perform thorough procedures. ZEISS is a global leader in advancing surgical visualization.

The Smart Selecta Duet by Lumenis combines YAG peripheral iridotomy with selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) technology to help treat glaucoma.

YAG peripheral iridotomy helps treat patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma. This minimally invasive laser surgery creates a tiny hole in the iris (the coloured part of the eye) to increase the flow of aqueous humour from the front to the back of the eye.

SLT helps treat open-angle glaucoma. A laser is used to help improve the drainage of fluid in your eye.

The Smart Selecta Duet also helps us perform a procedure called a YAG capsulectomy. This procedure helps patients see clearly after cataract surgery, especially in cases where patients experience posterior capsule opacification, otherwise known as a “secondary cataract.”
