To book a refractive assessment, or for more information on vision correction surgeries, please call 403-930-9931.
Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL), also known as implantable contact lenses or phakic intraocular lenses (IOL), are implants that your ophthalmologist surgically places inside the eye, between the iris and the natural lens, to help correct refractive problems.
Schedule an assessment to see if you are a candidate for the procedure.
Before the surgery, your eyes will be numbed with drops. Your ophthalmologist will use a lid speculum to keep your eyes open during the procedure.
A small incision is made in the eye using a blade or a laser. Your ophthalmologist then inserts a lens designed to correct your vision through that incision and positions the ICL between your lens and iris (the coloured part of your eye). No sutures or stitches are required.
After the procedure, your ophthalmologist will give you medications to aid healing and prevent infection, as well as an eye shield to keep you from rubbing your eyes when you sleep.
Your eye care team will book subsequent check-up appointments to monitor your recovery.
While other refractive surgeries are permanent, ICL surgery can be reversed to accommodate any refractive changes that might occur while you age. ICL works with your eye to help provide you with the best vision possible.
Because ICL surgery has less impact on the cornea, there is a decreased risk of experiencing dry eyes. ICL shares some of the risks seen in LASIK or PRK surgery, specifically halos or glares. Also there is an increased risk of cataracts following ICL surgery.
ICL can provide you with fantastic vision, and is often recommended for patients who have a high amount of myopia, hyperopia or astigmatism.
Schedule an assessment to see if ICL surgery can improve the quality of your vision.
If you have already been cleared by your optometrist to have ICL eye surgery and they have filled out our referral document, the next step is to contact us about requesting an assessment.
We look forward to helping you achieve clear vision and healthy eyes.

We offer plenty of free 3-hour parking right outside our clinic, and we are easily accessible from Lion’s Park Station located on 14th Ave. NW.
We offer a variety of refractive surgery options including ICL, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), LASIK, and PRK. During ICL and Refractive Lens Exchange an intraocular lens is used to correct your vision. LASIK and PRK use a laser to correct your prescription.
