Refractive lens exchange (RLE), also known as clear lens extraction (CLE), uses the well known and established technique of cataract surgery to correct refractions in patients without cataracts.
As with any refractive eye surgery, please schedule an assessment to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure.
Laser refractive eye surgeries, like LASIK and PRK, require the reshaping of your cornea with the use of an excimer laser. However, refractive lens exchange is similar to cataract surgery where the ophthalmologist removes the natural lens of your eye and replaces it with a new intraocular lens (IOL) in the correct prescription to eliminate your refraction, providing you with clear vision.
Intraocular lenses are the real star when it comes to RLE surgeries, and depending on the type of refractive error you have, we offer a host of different IOLs to make sure you achieve the best vision possible. Some IOLs we offer include, but are not limited to:
If you have already been cleared by your optometrist to have RLE eye surgery and they have filled out our referral document, the next step is to contact us about requesting an assessment.
We look forward to helping you achieve clear vision and healthy eyes.
Our office is located on the South side of North Hill Mall in the professional building. Please note there is no entrance to our clinic from the mall.
We offer plenty of free 3-hour parking right outside our clinic, and we are easily accessible from Lion’s Park Station located on 14th Ave. NW.
We offer a variety of refractive surgery options including ICL, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), LASIK, and PRK. During ICL and Refractive Lens Exchange an intraocular lens is used to correct your vision. LASIK and PRK use a laser to correct your prescription. We can help you achieve clear vision without the need for glasses or contact lenses.
Refractive SurgeryCataracts are a common condition that often develops with age. Diabetes, certain medications, and trauma can also increase cataract risk. We offer a variety of advanced cataract surgery and intraocular lens options.
